Dr. C.V. ANANDA BOSE IAS (Rtd.)
PROFILE
Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose IAS eminent civil servant, housing expert, innovator, writer and orator, retired from service at the rank of Chief Secretary (Secretary to Govt. of India).
After retirement he was appointed Chairman of the Govt. of India Public Sector Undertakings, Central Warehousing Corporation & Central Rail side Warehouse Company Ltd. He is also Chairman of the Habitat Alliance, in consultative status with UN Ecosoc and was member of the UN Habitat Governing Council.
Dr. Bose has worked as Vice Chancellor ,Secretary to Chief Minister of Kerala, District Collector, and Principal Secretary in various ministries such as Education, Forest and Environment, Labour, General Administration and Revenue Board.
Dr. Ananda Bose was Chairman of the working group to prepare and submit a development plan to the Prime Minister. He had also submitted concept notes to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on ‘Housing for all’ and women’s empowerment during the general election 2014, which subsequently found a place in the PM’s policies.
The ‘Nirmithi Kendra’ founded by him to promote low cost housing, has been replicated all over India and his innovation, District Tourism Promotion Council, has become part of the National Tourism Policy.
A prolific writer and columnist, Dr. Bose has published 32 books in English, Malayalam and Hindi including novels, short stories, poems and essays. Some of his books have become best sellers.
A man of wide international exposure, Dr.Bose has represented India in the European Council for Nuclear Research (CERN), Geneva . He also represented India in the International Fusion Energy Organisation, ITER, France. He was Chairman of the Atomic Energy Education Society.
Recipient of the prestigious JawaharLal Nehru Fellowship, Dr. Bose is also Fellow of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie.
Dr. Bose has been a recipient of 25 international and national awards for his outstanding contributions in different fields. In recognition of his pioneering efforts in the field of housing. United Nations has selected his initiatives as ‘Global Best Practice’ four times. Govt. of India awarded him the National (Special) Habitat award.
He was the head of the prestigious Supreme Court Committee on the treasures of ‘SreePadmanabhaswamy Temple’.
An internationally renowned orator, Dr. Bose has addressed many prestigious global forums including the United Nations General Assembly,UN Habitat Nairobi and International meets in different countries.
Dr. Bose has won more than 100 prizes, including 15 gold medals, during his University days.He was the best speaker of the Kerala University and topped in the debates in the IAS training academy, Mussoorie which trains the top government officials of India.
